Process

How It Works

Four steps — for mods, shaders, and resource packs.

01

Upload Mods

Drag & drop your mods folder, pick files, or upload a ZIP. Files are read locally — nothing leaves your device.

02

Auto-Scan

Every JAR is hashed and looked up on Modrinth. Each mod is identified in real time as the scan runs.

03

Pick Version

Choose your target Minecraft version. Versions are grouped by major release. The highest available is pre-selected.

04

Download & Play

Get your updated mods.zip. Drop it into .minecraft and click Replace Folder. Done.

FAQ

Questions

Is this free?

Yes, 100%. It uses the open-source Modrinth API. Ads help keep the lights on.

Do my files leave my device?

No. .jar files are hashed locally in your browser. Only the hash is sent to Modrinth to look up version info. Your actual mod files stay on your machine.

Why does a mod show "Not Found"?

Some mods aren't on Modrinth (OptiFine, paid mods, obscure mods). They're flagged and included in the output ZIP at their current version unchanged.

Why is a version unavailable?

If a mod has no release for that Minecraft version on Modrinth, it's marked unavailable. It'll still be included at its current version.

Do I need an API key?

No. The public Modrinth API works without one. Adding a key boosts rate limits — useful for 50+ mod packs. Get one free at modrinth.com/settings/account.

Which loaders are supported?

Fabric, Forge, Quilt, and NeoForge. Pick yours before uploading — only compatible versions are shown.

Can I go back to a previous step?

Yes. Every step has a Back button and the wizard navigation bar at the top. You can change your folder or loader at any time.

What Minecraft versions are supported?

From 1.4 all the way to 1.22+. Versions are grouped by major release so you can quickly find what you need. New versions appear automatically from Modrinth data.

Can I update resource packs too?

Yes! Moddator now supports resource packs. Use the Resource Packs tool — it works exactly like the mod and shader updaters. Popular packs like Faithful and Fresh Animations on Modrinth are detected and updated automatically.
